As with any endeavor that involves a proprietary component there is an accepted level of trust almost equal to the level of displaced control. Utilizing an Open-Source concept within the Cyber domain helps to mitigates the risk associated with displaced control vs. level of trust, in that, openness allows for the opportunity to continually verify the level of trust that has been accepted over the lifetime of the framework and conventions that have been applied.  Within today’s Cyber Security environment there is also an abundance of open-source solutions, tools, systems, and groups who facilitate improvement to these capabilities.  Openness within security is an inherent component to many of the efforts that are shaping the way ahead.
